Apple released iOS 14.5 to the public on April 26 and with it come some goodies and extra control over your privacy. Follow along below to get some links to some notable folks who will guide you on the how-to parts.
First up, PRIVACY! Apple has staked out privacy as what sets them apart from the likes of Google and Facebook. With this update, you have control over whether you would like apps to track you across apps. For instance, you click some links in Facebook, then hop over to VRBO to check out rentals in an area a friend posted about. Facebook may track you over in the VRBO app and then serve you ads back in Facebook about rentals or attractions in that area. Now, you will get a pop-up asking weather to “Allow” or “Ask not to be tracked”. It’s not as sinister as it sounds. There are some benefits to the program. Apple put out a great video on youtube explaining how it works. Click the link below to check it out:
Apple also announced the ability to use an Apple Watch 3 or newer to work with iPhone X or newer to unlock your phone when wearing a mask. Once your phone and watch are updated, you turn on the capability in settings. Then if your watch is on and unlocked, it will authorize your phone to unlock when wearing your favorite face covering. The website 9to5mac.com has a great video walkthrough you can view to see all the other goodies announced via the new update.
As always, we are happy to help individually with any of this. Just reach out for more info or help getting it set up.
